Subject: USS Stoddard
Greetings from the home of the world's best wurst !!
In early 1998 I contacted you regarding the USS Stoddard and
some former crew members from the Vietnam War. We were
unsuccessful at that time, but have not given up.
What I am looking for is anyone who served aboard the Stoddard
in 1968, 69, and 70 at the Navy Support Activity, Saigon to
support the following:
- Members of the crew were exposed to Agent Orange when they
routinely went into the field with back packs and sprayed AO
around the perimeters of facilities in Ben Loc and GoDau Hoc.
1A. These men were armed, and did periodically engage the
enemy during their spraying operations. Are you aware of
any Combat Action Ribbon being issued to Stoddard crew under
those circumstances?
- Crew members were exposed to AO while handling the barrels
of chemicals in confined areas such as ships holds and
warehouses. Are you aware of any crew members who may be
receiving AO compensation from the VA?
Appreciate what ever information you can provide.
Sincerely,
Jim R Riesenberg
